June 13th 2009

Jennifer and Steve stuck to their plans of having the wedding ceremony outside at David Walley’s Hot Springs & Spa on the lawn area that looks out to Jobs Peak and the Carson Valley.  June 13th of this year the weather decided not to cooperate, the wind just kept howling down the Sierra Mountains.  All of us vendors proceeded with plan “A” as if the winds would calm down at least for the ceremony time.  The wind was so strong it blew over the table set for the sand ceremony. Thank goodness the sand was not set on the table at that time.  Ben Moore (Minister) and Bill McClain (DJ) had discussed how they would hide the microphone so it would not be beaten by the gust of wind. The beautiful flowers set up by Art in Bloom were getting a true test of endurance.  Finally ten minutes before the ceremony I had asked the beautiful bride Jennifer if she wanted to proceed with plan “A” because she would not be able to do the sand ceremony  and her 10’ veil would be blown away or pulling on her head.  Plus the guest would get full force of the wind in their faces and it really wouldn’t matter if the microphones were working because the wind is blowing in the ear.  The final call happened…move the wedding ceremony inside! All of us vendors moved swiftly to make the six o’clock ceremony happen.  I must say we did awesome; Jennifer and Steve were exchanging vows by ten after six. Lori (Lorraine Photography) did a few outside photographs after the ceremony so at least the outside settings could be captured.  The rest of the evening went as planned and the couple had a blast at the reception. Conclusion of the evening the guest lined the side walk holding cones full of rose petals as Jennifer & Steve approached the limousine the guest threw the pedals to bless them before being whisked away. Jennifer threw her bouquet to the single women that lined outside the limousine, who will be next??  I hope Jennifer & Steve enjoy their honeymoon at St. Lucia. Look forward to my post card.
